Giuseppe Verdi wrote some of the most celebrated operas the world has ever known. But what many of us have never heard are some of the magical works he produced before he became internationally famous. During his life he wrote some thirty stage works of which seven or eight form a regular part of an opera company's repertoire. The remainder are given an airing only on rare occasions and so remain largely hidden to audiences. This weekend will unearth some of these forgotten operas and will show what extraordinary gems they contain. From Oberto to Luisa Miller there are treasures hidden in their music which the world has ignored and which will delight and surprise you.
