String Orchestra Day: Stravinsky Day

About String Orchestra Day: Stravinsky Day
A string orchestra 'course -within a course' - with the various sections led by members of the Tedesca Quartet.
What is the course about?
Stravinsky Day is an opportunity for those who are not able to attend the full String Orchestra course to join the orchestra for the day to rehearse and perform Stravinsky's Apollo. Please note that this day course will run from 10am to 5pm.
In previous years on this one-day course we have tackled Vaughan Williams’s Tallis Fantasia, Mahler’s Adagietto, Britten’s Les Illuminations and Strauss's Metamorphosen.
Nic Fallowfield will conduct the orchestra, with his colleagues from the Tedesca Quartet (plus a guest) leading the various sections. With professional players at the front of each section there is always plenty of support so even if you think you can’t manage all of the notes come along anyway and relish taking part in such glorious music. (And in any case, players usually leave Tedesca courses feeling that they’ve done far better than they ever thought possible!).
What will you learn?
The whole day will be devoted to Stravinsky's Apollo.
By the end of the course you will feel that you know a great deal more about our set work and its inner workings.
How will the course be taught?
The course will focus on tutti sessions, although some sectional work may be necessary.
Who is the course for?
Ability: Confident, Skilful
Will music be provided and do you need to prepare or bring anything?
Yes, music will be available on this website ahead of the course for use on the course only. Participants are requested to print off their own copies as there will only be a limited number of parts available on the course.
