About Strings and Piano with the Rossetti Ensemble

The Rossetti Ensemble will aim to enhance your enjoyment of making music, offering practical advice and inspiration along the way.

What is the course about?

You should have a pre-existing group which has rehearsed in advance of the course. Repertoire is flexible, the tutors are experienced in all areas of chamber music from baroque to contemporary so anything goes! Other topics which will likely feature are: how to rehearse and express your thoughts concisely, how to match phrasing and blend sounds between strings and piano. For string players - ways to practise intonation, articulation and bowing.

What will you learn?

Expect to hear a wide range of great chamber music, receive advice on how to rehearse together, get individual help with technical issues (finding the best bowings for string players, fingerings and voicing for pianists). The opportunity to perform your repertoire on the final day.

By the end of this course, you will receive advice on how to work together and achieve a unified and confident performance.

How will the course be taught?

You will work with one of the tutors during the day and evening sessions will be with all the members of the Rossetti Ensemble. You are very welcome to drop into any session as a listener.

Who is the course for?

Confident to Skilful.

Will music be provided and do you need to prepare or bring anything?

You will be responsible for providing all of your chosen music.

A pencil and rubber are always useful to bring!
