Hertfordshire-born James, 15, began playing the piano and violin aged six. He is currently a student at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, London, where he studies piano with Christine Stevenson and violin with John Hutchinson. He is involved with several chamber ensembles at the College, including a Piano Duo, a Piano Trio and a Baroque quartet as a harpsichordist. As a violinist, James continues to enjoy playing and performing in youth orchestras. In the coming months, he will take the Associate of the Royal Schools of Music Performance Diploma and play Mendelssohn’s First Piano Concerto with orchestra. He is particularly interested in the music of Beethoven, Chopin and Schubert and looks forward to exploring further repertoire by these composers and others.
