The Piccadilly Quartet
Ensemble
The Piccadilly String Quartet is an ambitious emerging ensemble consisting of 2nd year students at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. Formed in 2024, they have begun to establish their name. Some of their recent outings include performing Pergolesi's Stabat Mater alongside singer soloists in the Basilica di Santa Trinita in Florence, Italy, and a lunchtime rectal of Mendelssohn's 2nd String Quartet and traditional Danish works in the Emmanual church, Didsbury.
In the last year they were selected as finalists of the prestigious RNCM Nossek Prize, performing Schumann's piano quintet and the Weil Prize where they were additionally commended for being the only 1st year quartet to be chosen, performing a programme of Shostakovich and Haydn.
The Piccadilly Quartet were also selected as 2026 finalists of the Lake District Music festival. They were recently chosen to perform in a masterclass with Chris Hoyle in Guernsey to represent RNCM. Last year, they performed alongside singers in an abridged version of Mozart's Idomenio as part of the RNCM Spotlight series and were selected to perform at the Congregation of Awards ceremony in the concert hall.
In April they will attend the Chilingirian chamber music course in West Dean where they will be given the opportunity to work on ambitious recital programmes with members from the renowned Chilingirian String Quartet.
The Piccadilly Quartet are fortunate to receive regular mentoring from renowned musicians including Petr Prause and Jennifer Langridge and were recently coached by the Fibbonaci quartet, the Brodsky Quartet, the NOVO Quartet and the Elias Quartet.
The Piccadilly Quartet are so excited and enthused by their future prospects, dedicated to performing to the highest standard and filling their audiences with the same joy as they feel whilst making music together.
