We are delighted to welcome back Sara Stowe to lead this brand new course focusing on the joyful, rejuvenating, uplifting and reflective songs written in celebration of the month of May. Sara, who has followed parallel careers in early and contemporary music working with a variety of artists including the Academy of Ancient Music and the composer Luciano Berio, will lead participants through European part songs from the Renaissance, songs about the Queen of the May, Marian songs, Cantigas de Santa Maria, Minnesinger May songs and pastoral songs of the trouveres. All voices are welcome, as well as instrumentalists doubling up on vocal lines in part songs, and providing drones for earlier medieval songs. Modern notation will be in treble and bass clefs only.
