What is the course about?

This well-established course offers the perfect opportunity for players of elementary standard to unite and experience the joys of playing in a full ensemble. The tutors will offer technical support, help with sight-reading and give valuable advice on how to progress. Most of the music won’t demand more than first position playing and will be in easy keys. Please note that we do not send music out to participants ahead of this course - that way everyone is in the same boat and nobody need feel that they are competing with anyone except themselves.

What will we cover?

We will cover a wide spectrum of music specially arranged to be accessible to elementary players. The music will start at a very basic level and progress gently during the duration of the course.

What will we accomplish? By the end of this course you will be able to…

You will discover the rewards of playing music as a social activity and improve your sight-reading.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Learner, but not absolute beginner. Some experience of how to go about playing your instrument and how to read music is very helpful.

How will the course be taught, and will any preparation be required?

The course will be based on sight-reading simple pieces which progress in difficulty throughout the course. No preparation other than that already mentioned above is necessary.

Will music be provided in advance of the course?

No, it will be provided by the tutor on the course.

Is there anything I need to bring?

Bring just yourself and your instrument, and an ambition to enjoy yourself.
