CALL TO AUDITION
Benslow Music invites advanced singers to audition for solo roles in our renowned Baroque Opera Project, 6 – 12 April 2026.
Benslow Music's beloved Baroque Opera Project returns for 2026 with Rameau's Pygmalion (1748). Over just six days, a period-instrument orchestra, chorus, and cast of auditioned solo singers will prepare and present a fully staged historically informed performance of the opera for the public.
We welcome a team of renowned early music and theatre specialists as tutors, with Catarina Costa e Silva as director-choreographer and baroque music specialist Fernando Miguel Jalôto back as musical director. The wider musical team includes Judy Tarling, Josh Salter and Gail Hennessy. All will share their guidance and knowledge on what is an immersive and enriching week exploring and staging Rameau’s opera.
We are auditioning for the roles of
Pygmalion - High-tenor
Céphise - Soprano
L'Amour - Soprano
La Statue - Soprano
Supported by Benslow Music’s bursary scheme, successful auditionees will be offered a full bursary to cover their tuition, lodging and place on this prestigious course.
Please note, successful singers should be off-book by the start of the project.
