Alexandra Davidson
Bassoon
Alex grew up in Bournemouth and studied music at Oxford before going on to take a Masters at the Royal Academy of Music, where she won the Florence Woodbridge Bassoon Prize. After graduating, she spent a year as a member of Southbank Sinfonia, touring the UK and Europe and learning about the demands of full-time orchestral life. Since then, she has developed a busy freelance career, playing both bassoon and contrabassoon with orchestras including BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Britten Sinfonia, The Hallé, London Concert Orchestra, London Mozart Players, Oxford Philharmonic, Royal Ballet Sinfonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Welsh National Opera.
She has also enjoyed travelling around the world as a member of the Marylebone Trio (previously Making Music Selected Artists) and performing as a member of Reed Rage bassoon quartet – including works written especially for the groups and running school concerts and chamber music coaching sessions.
