Caoimhe de Paor
Recorder
As one of few professional Irish Recorder players, Caoimhe has established herself as a passionate teacher, conductor and performer. Having begun her musical studies in the Limerick School of Music, she then graduated top of her class from the Cork School of Music (B.Mus), and gained a distinction in her Masters in Performance from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Caoimhe went on to become an Artist Fellow at the conservatoire and was also invited to take part in the inaugural Handel House Talent Scheme.
In more recent years, she has given the Irish premiere of Richard Harvey's Concerto Incantato with the University of Limerick and Hibernian Orchestras, recorded for The New York Times Conception series and performed live on BBC Radio 3 'In Tune' on numerous occasions. She is a founding member of the internationally-acclaimed and award-winning recorder quartet, Palisander, as well as a founding member of The Earls of Ormond back home; an ensemble of top class Irish early instrumentalists. She also performs with chamber opera ensemble, Insieme.
Caoimhe enjoys sharing her love of the recorder with others; teaching and conducting both children and adults. As well as being a tutor on the Irish Recorder and Viol Summer School, she has guest conducted the Scottish Recorder Orchestra. She is the recorder tutor at City Lit in London and has led playing days with Palisander. Caoimhe is also the recorder teacher and Peri Music Co-ordinator at The Belham Primary School in Peckham.
