Emily Moores
FluteI am an undergraduate flautist at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London and am about to begin my fourth and final year of study.
Growing up in Clevedon, North Somerset, I was fortunate to receive an MDS Grant, which enabled me to attend Wells Cathedral School as a Specialist Musician throughout my secondary education. I owe a great deal to Wells Cathedral School and, in particular, to Liz Walker, whose support and inspiration have played a significant role in my musical journey. Alongside my studies, I have begun teaching flute and recorder to primary school children, sharing my love of music and drawing on the inspiration I received from my own teachers.
In 2021, I was accepted into the National Youth Orchestra, performing in venues across the UK and enjoying the incredible experience of playing principal flute alongside soloist Francesca Dego. My passion for orchestral playing continues to grow, and I have thoroughly enjoyed performing with the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra in works including Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet and the newly commissioned Incantesimi by Julian Anderson. In 2025, I was delighted to reach the final of the Worshipful Company of Needlemakers' Prize for Woodwind.
