Hannah studied Viola at the Royal Northern College of Music and has subsequently held the position of Sub-principal Viola with Northern Ballet Sinfonia for 21 years, touring, recording and performing in many venues across the UK. Over the years her favourite ballet scores remain Prokofiev Romeo and Juliet and Carl Davis A Christmas Carol.
She is also a busy freelance orchestral player with English National Ballet, Royal Ballet Sinfonia, BBC Concert Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, London Concert Orchestra, Bath Philharmonia, London Concertante, Britten Sinfonia, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Alina Orchestra, English String and Symphony Orchestra amongst others. She especially enjoys performing in illustrious venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall, Barbican, Royal Opera House, Coliseum and Sadler’s Wells Theatre.
Alongside this she has always taught pupils of all ages and abilities, enjoying passing on knowledge and preparing them for prestigious schools such as Eton and Merchant Taylors’ School. Hannah has also been invited to tutor on Orchfest, a late summer music course in Eastbourne providing a full-size symphony orchestra with professional support.
In 2025, Hannah co-founded the English String Trio with Michael Gemmill and Julian Metzger, enjoying exploring this wonderful string idiom and amazing repertoire.
