John Alley was Principal Keyboard of the London Symphony Orchestra for 25 years, playing with them almost everywhere from Europe, to the US, South America, Asia and Australia. He has also worked extensively with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and others.
John features on dozens of recordings and can also be heard on film and video game soundtracks, including the Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Studio Ghibli franchises.
He has accompanied hundreds of legendary artists, including Janet Baker, Ann Murray, Felicity Lott, Brigitte Fassbaender, Yehudi Menuhin, Yo-Yo Ma, Ann-Sophie Mutter and Hilary Hahn, to name just a few.
He has worked with the BBC Singers, the Kings Singers, and the Swingle Singers, and chorus-mastered the Royal Choral Society and the London Symphony Chorus.
John collaborates with Elisabeth Parry on Flutes Inspired courses around the world and has composed and arranged scores for dozens of publications. His arrangements are published by Aurea Capra, Kevin Mayhew, and BrassWind.
John now lives in France and is available for accompanying, recording projects, piano teaching (intermediate and advanced students), and vocal coaching at his studio near Duras in southwest France.
