Steph West
Harp
Harpist and singer Steph works as a performer, teacher and workshop leader.
Working in traditional music she embraces both English and Irish trad styles, working with a variety of artists and organisations in both fields. Past projects include First Folio with Matt Coatsworth, Emily and Tunesmiths with Emily Spiers and Colman Connolly, bal-folk Midnight Patisserie and the Jacquelyn Hynes Trio.
The only harpist with 9.5 fingers, Steph works within the integrated/disabled arts world as a performer with the British Paraorchestra and RNS Moves, and has mentored for Open Up Music and the National Open Youth Orchestra. This has opened the door to contemporary classical music, pushing the lever harp into new directions. It’s also given Steph great insight into what inclusive practice can do for groups and individuals, something she uses every time she runs a workshop.
Steph loves arranging and writing, using this within her singer-songwriter duo with drummer Paul Radmeyer.
