Concerts FAQs

What sort of artists perform at Benslow Music?

We have a hugely varied set of performers for you to enjoy. From early music experts playing pieces written before 1650 and performed on period instruments, through classical and chamber music to cool jazz and exciting folk musicians. You can be assured that they will be of an exceptional standard.

A concert at Benslow Music is an amazing opportunity to enjoy a stunning performance close to home (and without the trouble or expense of a train ticket to London!).

What are your concert spaces like?

We're lucky to have two concert halls. Peter Morrison Hall seats around 100, and the smaller Palmer Hall, accommodates around 50 people. They're both intimate spaces where you will be able to not just hear the music, but feel it. You'll be up close and able to see the expressions of the performers, and to watch their expertise with their instruments.

Is parking available?

Yes, we have plenty of free parking on campus.

Do you have disabled access?

Yes, both our concert halls have step-free access so you'll be able to join the performance easily.

Can I have dinner before the concert?

Unfortunately we do not serve dinner for concert ticket holders. We recommend visiting either Ronan's Coffee Shop & Bistro or The Radcliffe Arms beforehand.

How do I pay for the concert?

Tickets can be bought via Eventbrite. Visit our concerts page to select the concert you wish to attend and select the red button which takes you to Eventbrite.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer payment over the phone.

Tickets can also be bought on the door.

Are refreshments available?

Our licensed bar is open for evening performances where you are welcome to purchase a drink.

What happens at an afternoon concert?

Our afternoon series of concerts is often - but not always - performed by a range of stunning young musicians. Often students of the Royal College of Music or similar establishments, you can be assured of the chance to enjoy and support some of the best rising talent around.

The performance will take place in one of our concert spaces usually for around an hour and then, should you wish, you will be invited to join us for tea or coffee and home-made cake in the Benslow Music dining room. This is all included in the price of your ticket - just £10 for adults and £5 for under 27s.

Can I visit the Benslow Music gardens whilst at a concert?

Yes, you are welcome to enjoy our beautiful four acre gardens. Please be aware that, especially during the day, people may be studying or practicing their instruments so be mindful not to distract them.

What happens to the money paid for tickets?

Benslow Music is a charity, and all concert fees go towards paying the artists for their performance. Any surplus helps us to keep moving forward with our mission to make music education available to even more people.
