Join us for an inspiring weekend of chamber music making in trios of flute, cello and piano. Discover the beauty and richness of this repertoire and develop your ensemble playing with coaching from cellist Julian Metzger, flautist Lisa Nelsen and pianist Michelle Santiago.
What is the course about?
Discover the countless sonic possibilities of music for flute, cello and piano in this inspiring weekend course, where you’ll get to meet, play and perform with like-minded musicians in a range of duos and trios. Immerse yourself in the beauty and richness of this repertoire as we journey through musical periods and styles, from Kapustin to Bach, Walckiers to Weber. Develop both your individual technique and ensemble playing in a friendly and intimate setting, with coaching on hand from professional players; cellist Julian Metzger, flautist Lisa Nelsen and pianist Michelle Santiago.

How will the course be taught?
The course includes group workshops, tailored coaching in both duos and trios, as well as masterclasses for each instrument to help you develop your technique. You’ll discover and play through a range of beautiful repertoire, and have plenty of opportunities to perform in relaxed sharing sessions, to help improve your performance and presentation skills.
Who is the course for?
For confident players of the flute, cello and piano - we will group you into trios at the beginning of the course. If you’d like to come as an existing group, please let us know when you apply.
Will music be provided and do you need to prepare or bring anything?
The repertoire for this course is: EUGÈNE WALCKIERS Trio in Dm, Op.97 (1st movement)
NIKOLAI KAPUSTIN Trio for flute, cello and piano, Op.86 (1st movement)
WEBER Trio for flute, cello and piano in Gm, Op.63 (1st movement)
BACH Flute Sonata in Em, BWV.1034
There is also an option for trios by either Kuhlau or Mozart. These can be sent on request.
Please prepare your parts beforehand so we can make the most of our coaching sessions together. You’ll need to bring copies of your music along with you. The IMSLP has a large library of music available where you will be able to find all but the Kapustin which will be emailed to you in advance of the course.
