About String and Piano Ensembles with Primrose Quartet

Join us for an enriching and informative short course designed to enhance your string and piano ensemble’s playing, with expert coaching on your chosen repertoire and the chance to play together with the Primrose Quartet.

What is the course about?

This hands-on workshop offers an exciting chance to work with members of the Primrose Piano Quartet and guest Martin Outram to improve upon your playing as an ensemble, focusing on your choice of repertoire. You can choose between traditional coaching, or for a tutor to join your group and coach from their instrument. The course also includes a concert from the Primrose Piano Quartet on the Friday evening, and an entertaining group workshop.

What will you learn?

By the end of the course, you will: Sharpen your ensemble’s playing as a group. Gain confidence and mastery of your chosen repertoire. Learn a range of ensemble playing techniques to help you prepare for performance. Experience playing together with leading professional musicians.

How will the course be taught?

You will take part in a dedicated coaching session for your ensemble with one of the course tutors, looking at your chosen repertoire in-depth. You can have traditional coaching or, if you prefer, a tutor can join your ensemble to coach from the instrument, offering additional practical advice.

Who is the course for?

This course is designed for existing ensembles of string and piano players, from trios upwards, with a good level of chamber music experience. Individual and duo players are welcome to apply - we will do our best to match you with suitable musicians where possible.

Will music be provided and do you need to prepare or bring anything?

Please bring your instruments and chosen repertoire along with you as sheet music, with a couple of spare copies for our tutors. We recommend preparing your individual parts in advance to make the most of the course.
