George is a member of the Consone Quartet, the first period-instrument string quartet to be selected as BBC New Generation Artists. The Quartet enjoys performing in major venues across the UK as well as further afield in Belgium, Germany, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, Austria, Bulgaria, Slovenia and North America. Consone frequently expands forces, with recent projects including Brahms and Schönberg String Sextets with Francesca Gilbert and Alexander Rolton, Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn and Clara and Robert Schumann Lieder with Helen Charleston, Octets with the Chiaroscuro Quartet and Piano Quintets with Alexander Gadjiev.
Recently, at the English Haydn Festival, George performed Schumann’s and CPE Bach’s Cello Concertos, and with his father, Alastair has released their first album ‘Father & Son’, centred around the Six sonatas, opus 5 by Francesco Geminiani. Alongside his friend and colleague, Tomoki Park, he is performing a programme of the complete works for cello and piano by Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn using historical pianos.
