How will the course be taught?
The course will include daily group warm up sessions, relaxed masterclasses, where you’ll get lots of hints and tips to improve your technique and interpretation, chamber music and flute choir sessions, and the opportunity to work on a piece with pianist John Alley, which you can perform in our informal sharing concert. We’ll also host relaxed conversations on topics like developing a practice routine, new repertoire ideas, and how to cope with performance anxiety.
Who is the course for?
We welcome flute players of all levels, whether you are just starting out or a seasoned player, but you will need to feel confident in sight-reading. We recommend this course to Improver and Confident players, as outlined in our Guide to Standards.
Will music be provided and do you need to prepare or bring anything?
You’ll need to choose a piece for flute and piano that you’d like to workshop together with Elisabeth and John for our masterclass sessions. Other than that, no preparation is needed. Please bring your instrument and sheet music with you. If you play other instruments in the flute family such as the piccolo, alto or bass flute, feel free to bring them along for our choir sessions.
