About String & Piano Ensembles with Rossetti Ensemble
Enhance your music-making for piano and strings, with the Rossetti Ensemble offering practical advice and inspiration along the way.
What is the course about?
This course is for pre-existing groups who have rehearsed in advance. Repertoire is flexible, the tutors are experienced in all areas of chamber music from baroque to contemporary so anything goes!
What will you learn?
Expect to hear a wide range of great chamber music, receive advice on how to rehearse together and get individual help with technical issues like finding the best bowings for string players or fingerings and voicing for pianists.
On this course, you'll learn:
How to work together and achieve a unified and confident performance
How to rehearse and express your thoughts concisely
How to match phrasing and blend sounds between strings and piano
For string players - ways to practice intonation, articulation and bowing.
You will also have opportunity to perform on the final day.
How will the course be taught?
During the day, you will work with one of the tutors. Evening sessions will be spent with all the members of the Rossetti Ensemble. You are very welcome to drop into any session as a listener.
Who is the course for?
This course is designed for players working at the Confident and Skilful levels. Please see our Ability Levels Explained for further details.
You are welcome to join the course as a pre-formed string and piano ensemble, trios or larger.
Will music be provided and do you need to prepare or bring anything?
You will be responsible for providing all of your chosen music.
