Step into the wonderful world of Musical Theatre, from early works by Rodgers and Hammerstein to today’s most loved musicals. Develop your singing, acting and performance skills in a supportive masterclass environment.

What is the course about?

Develop your singing and performance skills in this joyful deep dive into songs from popular musicals over the past 80 years. Whether you love the glamour and nostalgia of Rodgers and Hammerstein, the drama of the 1920s courtroom in Chicago, or the kitsch humour of The Book of Mormon and Hamilton – you’ll get to choose four songs from your favourite musicals to dive into with our expert tutors; director Libby Egwuba and vocal coach Stephen Dickinson, who each have a wealth of experience to offer. You’ll gain practical insights and advice on vocal techniques, performance and dramatic styles in a welcoming and supportive atmosphere, giving you the skills and confidence to shine in your performance.

By the end of the course you will: Make significant progress in various vocal and performance skills, helping you to fine-tune your performance. Be more confident in singing in a variety of musical theatre styles. Gain practical and tailored advice designed to help you develop your performance skills as both an actor and singer. Meet like-minded performers and share tips and advice in a friendly and welcoming environment.

How will the course be taught?

This course uses a masterclass approach with all participants together in the room listening to individual tuition, so participants learn both practically and by listening to others’ feedback. Our tutors create a supportive and welcoming atmosphere, free of judgement, offering helpful feedback to each participant in the masterclass.

Who is the course for?

This course is designed for singers who want to develop their musical theatre singing and acting skills. You’ll need to be comfortable performing your chosen songs in a group masterclass setting.

Will music be provided and do you need to prepare or bring anything?

You’ll need to prepare three to four contrasting songs of your choice, from any musical from the past 80 years. Duets are also welcome. Please bring a few copies of the scores for both yourself and the tutors. Our library is open to members (and non-members while on a course) to help source sheet music if needed. No special clothing is needed, but you’re welcome to bring props to help your performance.
